Generator on Rent in Hyderabad and Secunderabad

In short. Reddy Generators rents diesel generators from its own fleet to offices, apartment complexes, hospitals, factories, function halls, film units and construction sites across Hyderabad and Secunderabad, for a few days, a season or several years. We size the set from your load, bring the cables, connect through a proper changeover, and stay responsible for the set’s service through the hire. Availability, delivery date and rent are confirmed when you call; this page tells you what to ask for and what your site needs ready.

Who this page is for: Anyone in Hyderabad or Secunderabad who needs a generator on hire, for an office, apartment, hospital, function, shoot, factory or construction site, and wants to know what size to ask for, what the site must have ready and how the hire runs from the first call to power.

Key facts

  • Hires range from one-day events to long-term contracts. A private bank’s Hyderabad branches have rented four 30 kVA sets from us since 2017.
  • The size you need depends on the running load and the largest motor or air-conditioner start, not on the building’s sanctioned load.
  • Most delays come from the site, not the set: no space, no cable route, no earthing, no permission from the society or venue.
  • Connection to your building must be made through a changeover by a competent, licensed electrician. A rental set must never back-feed the grid.
  • Rates and how they are built up are explained on our generator rental rates page; the engineering of temporary power is in our rental power section.

Hire scenarios by area type in Hyderabad

The city’s hire demand follows its geography. The table shows what we typically see in each kind of area and what usually decides the hire.

Area type Typical hire Typical size Duty What usually decides it
IT corridor offices (HITEC City, Gachibowli, Financial District, Kokapet, Nanakramguda) Cover while a building set is overhauled or replaced; fit-out power; floor-level backup for a tenant 62.5–500 kVA Standby with UPS downstream Building management rules, set location on podium or setback, UPS compatibility
Industrial estates (Uppal, Mallapur, Kattedan, Medchal, Genome Valley and others) Bridging power during a transformer failure, plant expansion or a breakdown of the owned set 125–750 kVA Prime power for hours or days Motor starting, compressor loads, shift pattern
Apartment complexes and gated communities Cover during DG overhaul or replacement; summer peak backup 82.5–320 kVA Standby: lifts, pumps, common lighting, limited flat loads Association approval, set position, noise at night
Hospitals and clinics Second source during maintenance of the main set or panel work 30–500 kVA Critical standby Zero-gap planning, AMF interface, fuel autonomy
Weddings, function halls and events (including exhibition venues) Lighting, sound, LED walls, catering, tent air-conditioning 15–250 kVA, sometimes two sets Prime power for the event hours Venue rules, cable route through guests, quiet operation
Construction sites (Outer Ring Road belt, new suburbs) Power before the permanent connection: hoists, batching, welding, site offices 30–320 kVA Prime power, long hours Welding and hoist starts, dust, fuel security
Film shoots (studio floors and location shoots) Lighting and unit power where studio or location supply is not enough 15–250 kVA Prime power, often in remote spots Silent operation near the set, moving between locations

Size ranges are typical of the applications, not a statement of what is in stock; availability is confirmed when you call.

Hyderabad conditions that shape a hire

Local condition Effect on the hire What to do
Summer afternoons in the 40s °C, sometimes mid-40s Air-conditioning load peaks exactly when the set has least cooling margin Size on summer load; keep the set out of enclosed courtyards; see summer precautions
Pre-monsoon storms and monsoon downpours Frequent outages; waterlogging in low-lying roads and cellars Place the set on level ground above water-collection points; keep cable joints off the ground; never site a set in a basement or cellar
Narrow lanes in older areas; gate-height limits in gated communities A truck or crane may not reach the planned position Measure gate width and height; agree the unloading point before booking
Restrictions on heavy-vehicle movement in parts of the city at certain hours Delivery and collection can shift to early morning or night Agree a delivery window and keep someone on site to receive the set
Dense housing next to function halls and offices Noise and exhaust complaints, especially at night Acoustic set; exhaust pointed away from windows; position agreed with neighbours or the venue
Wedding and festival seasons Demand for event sets rises sharply around peak muhurtham dates Book event sets well ahead of the date

What a hire needs on your side

Space and access

A level, firm area with clear space on all sides for service doors and airflow, and a route for the truck or crane. Acoustic sets breathe in at one end and push hot air out at the other; facing the outlet at a wall or another set recirculates hot air and causes high-temperature shutdowns in summer. Keep the exhaust away from windows, air-conditioning intakes and fire exits.

Cable route

Measure the run from the set to the changeover point. The route must avoid walkways where it can, cross them under proper protection where it cannot, and stay out of standing water. Long runs need larger cable to keep voltage drop in check, which is why we ask for the distance before quoting.

Earthing

The set’s body and neutral must be earthed to suitable earth electrodes, tested before the load is connected. On short event hires we bring temporary electrodes; on long hires the site’s own earthing may be used if it tests correctly.

Changeover

The set connects through a changeover switch or an AMF panel so that the grid and the generator can never be connected together. If your building has no changeover point, we can supply and install one as part of the hire. All connections are made by competent, licensed people.

Fuel

Agree who fills the set, how often, and who keeps the log. For long hires, fuel control matters; our fuel control guide explains how to keep it honest.

Permissions

Apartment associations, office building managers, hospitals and venues usually have rules on where a set may stand, running hours and noise. Get written approval for the position and the cable route before the set arrives; it is the single most common reason for a delayed connection.

From call to power

1

Call or WhatsApp with the address, use, dates, load or main equipment list, and photographs of the space and the distribution board.
2

Sizing and confirmation: we propose a size, cable and changeover arrangement, and confirm availability, delivery date and terms.
3

Site readiness: you secure the position, permissions and access; for larger hires we survey the site first.
4

Delivery and placement: the set is unloaded and positioned, and the cables are laid along the agreed route.
5

Connection and earthing: earthing is installed and tested; the set is connected through the changeover by a licensed electrician.
6

Test on load: we start the set, check voltage, frequency and phase rotation, transfer the load and confirm it runs as planned.
7

Handover: your operator is shown starting, stopping, alarm reading and the daily checks. Service responsibility during the hire is agreed in the hire terms.

Long-term and recurring hires

Not every hire is an emergency. Some customers rent for years because a rental set suits their premises better than an owned one: a leased branch office, a site the business expects to leave, or an organisation that prefers an operating cost to an asset. A national life insurer’s branches in Hyderabad and Secunderabad rented 62.5 kVA acoustic sets from us from 2008 (project), and a private bank’s branches at Dilsukhnagar, Vanasthalipuram, Hitech City and Secunderabad Cantonment have rented four 30 kVA sets since 2017 (project).

On a long hire, the set is serviced on running hours like an owned set, by us; the site sends a simple monthly reading of hours, fuel and any alarms; and what happens after a major fault or a change of premises is agreed in the hire terms. For a recurring need, such as every summer or every annual shutdown, booking the same dates each year avoids peak-season shortages.

Worked example: a wedding at a function hall

Illustrative case. A family books a function hall for an evening reception and wants a separate generator for décor lighting, sound and an air-conditioned dining tent, so the hall’s own supply is not overloaded.

Load Running kW
Décor and stage lighting 15
Sound system and LED wall 10
Catering equipment (warmers, fridges) 6
Four tent air-conditioning units 24
Total running load 55
  1. kVA at a power factor of 0.85: 55 ÷ 0.85 ≈ 65 kVA.
  2. Allow for compressor starts and an evening still in the 30s °C: an 82.5 kVA set (66 kW) would run at 83 % with little room for a compressor starting while the others run. A 100 kVA set (80 kW) runs at 69 %, which is comfortable. The air-conditioning units are started one at a time.
  3. Current: 55,000 ÷ (1.732 × 415 × 0.85) ≈ 90 A per phase.
  4. Cable: the set stands 60 m from the distribution point. With 35 mm² copper (illustrative voltage drop about 1.1 mV per amp per metre), the drop is 1.1 × 90 × 60 ÷ 1,000 ≈ 5.9 V, about 1.4 % of 415 V, well within normal limits.
  5. Fuel: at an illustrative 0.28 L/kWh, the set uses about 15 L/h. Testing from late afternoon plus the event gives about 8 hours, or about 123 litres; the set should start the evening with a full tank and a reserve on site.

The resulting request is precise: one 100 kVA acoustic set, 60 m of 35 mm² cable plus earthing, connection to the event distribution board through a changeover, fuel for about 8 hours plus reserve, and an operator for the evening.

Hire-readiness checklist

  • Written approval from the society, building manager or venue for the set position and cable route.
  • Truck access measured: gate width and height, turning space, unloading point, any time restrictions.
  • Level, firm, dry standing area with clear airflow at both ends and the exhaust away from windows.
  • Cable route measured from the set to the changeover, with protected crossings.
  • Changeover point identified, or a changeover requested as part of the hire.
  • Load list with the largest motors and air-conditioners marked.
  • Fuel responsibility agreed: first fill, refills and log.
  • A named person on site to receive the set and learn the daily checks.

If you are comparing suppliers, our guide to choosing a rental supplier lists the questions that matter.

Common mistakes

  • Asking for a size based on the building’s sanctioned load instead of the real running load and the largest starting load.
  • Booking the set before getting the society’s or venue’s approval for its position and cable route.
  • Placing the set in a closed courtyard or with its hot-air outlet facing a wall, then losing power to high-temperature shutdowns on a summer afternoon.
  • Connecting the set directly to a distribution board without a changeover, which risks back-feeding the grid and endangering line workers.

What to send us

Send the site address and area, what the set will run (or a list of the main equipment with air-conditioners and motors marked), hire dates and hours per day, photographs of the proposed set position, the gate and the distribution board, the approximate cable distance from the set to the board, and who will provide fuel. With that we can confirm the size, the cable and changeover arrangement, availability and the delivery window. Use the Generator rental enquiry, or WhatsApp the details and photographs.

Questions customers in Hyderabad ask

Do you give generators on rent in Hyderabad for one day?

Yes, for events and short jobs. One-day hires are usually event sets; booking ahead around peak wedding dates is important because demand is high.

Where can I get a small generator on rent near me in Hyderabad?

We rent small sets for shops, clinics, small offices and shoots across Hyderabad and Secunderabad. Tell us your area, the equipment you want to run and the dates, and we will confirm a size and availability.

Is a DG on hire better than buying for a few months?

For a period of months, usually yes: the hire includes service responsibility, and the set goes back when the need ends. For permanent standby, compare the hire with buying a new or refurbished set.

What size generator do I need on rent for a wedding?

It depends mainly on air-conditioning. Lighting and sound alone may need 15–40 kVA; an air-conditioned dining tent can take the requirement to 100 kVA or more. Send us the equipment list and we will size it.

Can you connect the rental generator to our apartment’s panel?

Yes, through a changeover switch or AMF panel, by competent licensed people, so the generator and grid can never be connected together. We can supply the changeover if there is none.

Do you provide diesel with the rental generator?

Fuel arrangements are agreed for each hire: who provides the first fill and the refills, and who keeps the log. Tell us your preference when you call.

Do you rent silent generators for residential areas?

Yes, our rental sets for city use are acoustic sets. Placement and exhaust direction still matter at night, so we agree the position with you and the society or venue.
