Four 30 kVA generators powering a private bank’s Hyderabad branches since 2017

Four 30 kVA rental generators backing up a private-sector bank’s Hyderabad branches under nine-year leases since 2017, with no service complaint recorded.

In short. Since late 2017, Reddy Generators has supplied and maintained 30 kVA rental generators at four Hyderabad branches of a private-sector bank: Hitech City (Madhapur), Secunderabad Cantonment, Kothapet (Dilsukhnagar) and Vanasthalipuram. The sets run under nine-year leases and have kept the branches supplied through grid failures ever since: more than eight years at the first two branches and more than seven at the other two, with no service complaint recorded by the bank in that time, according to Reddy Generators’ records.

The requirement

A bank branch cannot close its counters, ATMs or core-banking terminals because the grid fails. The bank’s branch set-up team wanted each new Hyderabad branch to have its own backup generator, installed into the branch distribution board and maintained for the life of the lease by one supplier.

How it has run

Each branch received a 30 kVA set connected into its panel, with possession formally handed over to the branch on commissioning. Reddy Generators has carried all servicing and breakdown attendance since, and the leases have continued without any break in service.

Outcome and limits

The first branches have been supplied continuously since late 2017, and each branch since its own handover. The statement that no service complaint has been recorded is based on Reddy Generators’ own records; branch-level outage logs are held by the bank and are not published.

Questions engineers ask about this project

How long can a generator rental contract run?

As long as the customer needs. These branch leases were written for nine years, which suits a bank that wants dependable backup without owning or maintaining the equipment.

Why would a bank rent rather than buy branch generators?

Renting keeps capital free, and the rental supplier carries the maintenance, repairs and replacement. The bank simply gets power when the grid fails.

What size generator suits a bank branch?

A 30 kVA set typically carries a branch’s lighting, computers, network equipment, ATMs and some air conditioning. The right size comes from the branch’s own load list.
