The requirement
The Ramagundam fertiliser plant was being rebuilt as one of the country’s major fertiliser projects. Fabrication contractors on such a site need heavy temporary power for welding, cutting, lifting and testing long before the plant’s own supply is energised. The contractor needed several large sets on site quickly, with operators, for a hire of at least six months.
Three sets, one supplier
Instead of one very large generator, the site took three 250 kVA soundproof sets, each run by its own operator on a 12-hour day. Splitting capacity this way lets each set serve its own work area, keeps engines loaded efficiently, and means a fault on one set never stops the whole site. Soundproof enclosures kept noise down for the crews working around them.
Outcome and limits
All three sets were hired under the order with operators for the construction period. This record is based on the client’s purchase order; operating logs are not published.
